It is that time of the year again when we get to relish and drool over the latest release from Apple. I’m just overly excited about this year’s Apple Event.
Maybe because Apple finally decided to release the so-much anticipated series 8 AirPods Pro. Perhaps, someone out there is as excited as I am. What time is it again? It’s launch time, buddy!
Hop in as I take you through the September events. It’s definitely, a September to remember!
Enjoy!
This year’s event was held on the 7th of September, 2022. As usual, Apple invited some key persons in the industry and also pressmen to watch the product launch/release via their big screen in a theatre. While many people streamed online (I did that too). The event lasted for about 90 minutes.
A good track of the number of times Apple launched its products at events this year is about thrice already: the first being its Spring event where the iPhone SE, iPad Air, Mac Studio, and Studio Display were launched on March 8th.
The second event was the WWDC keynote where Apple introduced the macOS Ventura, iOS 16, iPad 16, M2 MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro.
The third is the just concluded fall launch where Apple launched the Apple Watch Series 8, the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Ultra, iPhone 14 series, and its 2nd generation AirPods Pro.
The iPhone 14 series is set to be available to be ordered from Friday the 9th of September, while the Apple Watches will be available for pre-order from Wednesday, 14th September, and the AirPods Pro on the 23rd of September.
iPhone 14 series
The biggest hit from Apple released during the launch was the iPhone 14 series which includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 features a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 14 Plus comes with a larger screen display and features a 6.7-inch display.
Contrary to many speculations on the price changes, there was no increase in their prices from Apple. the price is the same as that of the predecessor. the starting price of the iPhone 14 is $799 and that of the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899. for the Pro model, the starting price for the iPhone 14 Pro is $999 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max is $1099.
These devices have a revolutionary front design that reduces the size of the cutout for a front camera, hence increasing the screen size. The cutout, which Apple refers to as a “dynamic island,” may simply show real-time notifications or other system data.
The iPhone 14 has many amazing features such as;
- A more durable ceramic screen
- an improved battery life
- A true-tone OLED display
- An enhanced action mode to better stabilize videos
- An emergency SOS safety service through a satellite that allows users to connect to emergency services even when they are out of cellular or Wi-Fi network range. This service launches in Canada and would be free in the united states and Canada.
For the Pro version, there are also lots of exciting new features that set the iPhone 14 Pro from its predecessor. some of the new features include;
- An always-on display that stays on even when not it’s not being used.
- A new old power feature to extend the battery life
- Apple’s most recent 4-nanometer A16 Bionic chip processor
- A 48-megapixels camera sensor owing to its larger sensor.
- Enhanced picture quality even in low light
- An upgraded flash
- The iPhone 14 comes in different beautiful colors such as blue, midnight, Product Red, Purple, Silver, gold, deep purple, starlight, and space black.
One unique aspect during the launch was when Apple CEO confirmed that the iPhone 14 will be able to connect with satellite for emergency service via collaboration with Globalstar.
The feature is designed in such a way that there is a direct connection between a satellite and the antenna of an iPhone 14 thus enabling people to send and receive messages in areas not connected to cell towers.
According to Apple’s satellite modeling and simulation manager, Ashley Williams, the phone algorithm compresses texts to a size that requires just about 15 seconds to send to a satellite before it is transmitted to a ground station and then to an emergency service provider.
Globalstar confirmed its collaboration and support for the iPhone 14 emergency satellite service.
Apple Watch Ultra
Another product launched by Apple is the high-end Apple Watch Ultra which features a new design, a larger screen, and a titanium casing.
It has a redesigned watch face with greater details and a compass. Additionally, it incorporates a brand-new orange “action” button for speedy use when exercising or sporting gloves. Additionally, it may display how far the user is diving while swimming. It is safe to say that Apple specifically had the athletes in mind during the production of this watch.
According to Apple, after its software has been updated, users will be able to enjoy 60 hours of battery life using the Watch.
The starting price is $799 and will be available for preorders from Wednesday, 13th September while it will be available in various gadget stores from 23rd September.
Apple Watch SE
Apple launched a redesign of its Apple Watch SE which is a low-priced model of the Series 8. The features include;
- A larger display screen size
- a brand-new plastic pattern on the watch’s back
- Fall surveillance and detection
- Alerts for heart rates
The starting retail price ranges from $249 to about $299 from the 16th of September. The market target of this Watch is kids that do not own an iPhone.

According to Apple, the device is made to guarantee data privacy and security, and health information will only be disclosed with the user’s express consent.
A new security feature controlled by two motion sensors was also incorporated by Apple. The new car crash detector can determine whether the user was involved in a fatal collision and will immediately contact emergency services.
Apple Watches now have a new mode that temporarily disables the always-on display and workout alerts, extending battery life from 18 hours to 36 hours.
Apple AirPods Pro
A new model of the wireless noise-cancellation earbuds was also launched. An upgrade was made to the H1 chip in the previous model to ensure better sound quality and output. The AirPods Pro sells at $249. Some of the new features include;
