Why do iPhone 12 Get Hot? How to fix overheating issues?

Have you ever observed that gadgets share some similar behaviors with humans? Although inanimate, they have a peculiar feature with us.

Oh! no, that can’t be true…wait till I prove that to you in this article and then you could come back for more eye-opening tech observations from me (lol).

This peculiar feature is overheating of gadgets as a result of continuous use. Same way we humans come down with body pain when we are stressed, it’s also the same way gadgets get hot upon our continuous usage.

While the issue of overheating is not new to iPhones generally, three out of five persons would have their iPhone 12 getting overheated at least, once a week.

Although everyone encounters this particular issue at one point or the other with their gadgets. Funnily, this thought never crossed my mind until I became conscious of it.

So, most times, you recognize there is an issue but you shrug it off by saying, “it’d get resolved all by itself, I only need to keep my phone aside for some seconds until it all gets cool.”

How to fix iPhone 12 overheating

Just maybe no other solution ever crossed your mind as to resolving overheating problems, well, I bring good news to you today on how to fix iPhone 12 overheating problems.

The first thing you want to know about iPhone overheating issue is to find the underlying factors that cause your iPhone 12 to overheat.

One thing overheating does to your phone is to make your device temperature above normal thus resulting in malfunctioning.

Firstly, you need know to know about the different possible causes of overheating. Running a diagnostic test will be of no use in this case because most times when overheating happens, your device becomes unresponsive.

So below are some factors that cause overheating and possible solutions to resolving these issues;

  • Having too many applications running at the same time

If you’re like me who loves switching between apps and also has several applications running all at once, then this is one culpable factor, right here.

Leaving applications to run without using them will only result in heating up your phone. It took me some time to get accustomed to closing apps not currently in use. Hence, my reason for making this point the first amongst the iPhone 12 overheating fix options.

Also, leaving some background applications like your mobile data, location, hotspot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on can cause your phone to overheat.

Solution

Close all applications not in use at the moment, this will prevent your phone from overheating and in addition, help retain your battery hence improving your battery life.

Also, turn off all background applications when not needed and it’s even simpler on the iPhone 12, you can turn them off in the control center.

iPhone fake or faulty charger

  • Fake or faulty charger

There are so many shams of a gadget packaged as original product this leading to your iPhone 12 overheating while charging. If you fall prey, that would be a great problem for your device. what the fake charger does when plugged into your device is to cause your device to overheat and also, deplete the battery life of your iPhone 12.

Solution

Although your original charger will someday begin to malfunction, before it does that, do everything within your reach to protect your original charger from getting stolen or spoilt.

It is pretty difficult to get a charger that would work perfectly like the original charger that comes with your device.

You need to learn how to recognize an original from a fake charger and here’s how to tell the difference; an original charger will always be MFI certified. Anything different from an MFI certification is a counterfeit product!

  • Obsolete software

You would always have to deal with bugs issue. However, there is a solution to fixing overheating as a result of obsolete software.

  • Hot environment

Let’s go back to biology class; Just as it is with humans, gadgets also have a particular temperature range between 0-350C at which they work best. If this temperature is crossed, such a device will begin to overheat.

Also, if you reside (or use your iPhone 12) in an area with a temperature above 350C, there is a possibility your device will undergo overheating more than usual.

Solution

While there may not be a solution if such an area is your place of domicile, however, there is an alternative way to solve this issue; all you need to do is to avoid continuous fiddling with your phone. Learn to occasionally leave your phone untouched – only then can the issue of overheating be kept below par.

  • Low Power Mode

one very effective tip for preventing iPhone overheating is to make use of the low power mode. This will help shut down those background applications that keep running and draining your battery and eventually causing your phone to overheat thereby making your device cool. To turn on the low power mode, navigate through to your iPhone settings, select battery, click on low power mode and turn it on.

Settings > Battery > Low power mode

  • Reset all settings

Another way of fixing the overheating problems is to resolve Issues with settings. You can choose the option of resetting. In this case, you need to restore all settings to their original settings. To do this go to settings, select general, click on reset then proceed to click on reset all settings, again, click on reset all settings as confirmation.

Note that resetting all settings will not affect (wipe off) all your personal data but will only reset the VPN configuration, clear all paired devices and Wi-Fi passwords.

It’s a pleasure having you read through it till the end. I hope you found this helpful!
