With the release of another of Apple’s lineup in view, the atmosphere is filled with so much curiosity about the device’s features including its size, design, spec, and shape. Following Apple’s norms over the years, it’s just about a few months until the launch of the new iPhone lineup (14). As rumors begin to spread around, some facts have been deduced while many more are gradually unfolding. As such, rumors have been fairly clear on what to anticipate regarding the iPhone 14 case compared to its would-be immediate predecessor. For this and many more reasons, we hope to educate you on whether the iPhone 13 case would make a good fit for iPhone 14; and if not we’ll highlight the differences between them.
iPhone 14 Cases What To Expect
It is not new to anticipate only four variants of the expected iPhone 14 since Apple’s attention seems to have derailed from the Mini series. The four variants in the iPhone 14 series, with screens measuring 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively, are iPhone 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max.
One would curiously anticipate that the iPhone cases would be interchangeable given that the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro’s 6.1-inch screens are the same sizes as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro’s. Unfortunately, a lot of hopes would not be met by the result. This is major because the changes/differences between the cameras for the phones are quite significant. As such, the predicted problem will most likely be the camera hump. That said, the cases could still fit in some sense. Let’s see how.
Why an iPhone 13 Case Will Fit on the New iPhone 14
When will talk about the phones’ respective dimensions (height & screen), the cases could actually match each other because the base dimensions of both the current and anticipated iPhone models are probably going to stay the same. Also, when their lengths are compared, the iPhone 13 series seem to be a good fit for its would-be successor respectively.
Furthermore, rumors are suggesting that Apple Inc. also intends to offer users a non-Pro 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus model. This version hopes to come with a reduced camera bump, unlike the others. If this turns out to be true, then this model will surprisingly share the same physical dimensions as Apple’s previous Pro Max iPhone models. Consequently, the iPhone 13 Pro Max case, if tried, would undoubtedly match the iPhone 14 Plus for a perfect fit. However, the clause would be the non-fitting camera hole and the camera system. It would probably come out looking a bit awkward since the camera hole in the case is noticeably larger than the phone’s two-lens camera system.
However, no one wants to use a phone case that does not properly fit into the camera system of the phone, even if the sizes and dimensions are the same. This brings us to why it won’t fit.
Why an iPhone 13 Case Won’t Fit For iPhone 14 & 14 Pro
From all indications, Apple’s camera bulge seems to get larger as new models are launched and their sizes increased. And this seems to be a turn-off to the expectation of many–in terms of case fittings. The larger camera bulge present on the expected series (iPhone 14, and 14 Pro) obviously means that cases made for the current iPhone 13 series won’t be a perfect fit for the upcoming generation.

Why an iPhone 13 Case Won’t Fit For iPhone 14 Plus & 14 Pro Max
When we talk about the larger side of the expected lineup, iPhone 13 Max cases would be a good fit for the next generation (iPhone 14 models). This is because they are similar in size and height, which makes them a good fit for the cases to be used interchangeably. Nevertheless, a hindrance still exists; which is the issue of the camera bump. According to sources, you could actually install the case of your iPhone 13 Max on your I4 models. However, the full installation would be hampered by the interference of the rear camera hole. Since the camera hole won’t allow for the complete and perfectly aligned installation, the overall outcome would be a non-fit.

iPhone 13 Case Won’t Fit on the New iPhone 14
Although the new phone is yet to be released, leaks have already revealed that the camera bump on the iPhone 14 lineup will be getting bigger undoubtedly. More especially evident in the two 14 Pro models. Apart from the beautifully designed camera bump (which discourages case interchange for 13 &14 models), sources revealed according to mockups, have also shifted our view to increasing growth in thickness and the backspace of the upcoming iPhone 14 models. The upcoming 14 Pro Max is rumored to have a bump that will increase the phone’s total thickness to about 4.17mm, which is a half-millimeter increase compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 3.6mm. Furthermore, the height and width of the camera array will most probably increase by about 2 mm in each direction.
Interestingly, the cases for two iPhone13 models perfectly fit the actual size of the iPhone 14 in general. Unfortunately, the camera bump was the main hindrance. The difference in camera cutout for the phones (respectively) seems not to be in agreement as the iPhone 13 Pro Max would not fit around the camera bump of its successor. As a result of this, upgrading to any of the iPhone 14 lineups would also require you to upgrade to their respective phone cases as designed by Apple inc.
Conclusion
From all indications, there’s no doubt about the phone cases’ matching sizes of the already existing iPhone 13 and its would-be successor, the iPhone 14 models, expected to be released probably in the last quarter of the year. However, being the same size doesn’t mean you’ll be able to upgrade to the newer versions without upgrading to a new case too.
Even though the camera bumps themselves can be a bit awkward for some users, Apple is also thickening the iPhone in general to accommodate the larger camera bump. So, even if you were willing to overlook small issues with the fitting of the camera hump, the thicker cases resulting from the increase in thickness will literally not fit as well.
